Robert Pattinson opens up about casting as Batman; accidentally hints a Joker spoiler
When the news broke out that Robert Pattinson will play as the next caped crusader to replace Ben Affleck in the Iconic DC Role of Batman; Twitter went into a frenzy with tweets of people freaking out. But now, everyone has had a chance to calm down and let it sink in.
Robert Pattinson is the new Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU)
Everyone is wondering what’s in store for them in the next batman movie.
Robert also opened up about his role. He expressed that wearing the Batman suit does have a transforming effect. He mentioned in one of his interviews that wearing the Batman costume made him feel very powerful. The former Teen-Vampire actor won the role of Batman over Nicholas Hoult, who was the other contender for the role. According to reports, Matt Reeves, writer-director of the new Batman movie, was impressed by Pattinson’s work in Good Time and High Life. This ultimately helped Pattinson win the role against Nicholas Hoult.
At one point in our conversation, he offers a mundane comment about Joaquin Phoenix, who stars in “Joker” (a movie he hasn’t seen yet), before asking to retract it. “Oh s—,” he says, adding that he’s not accustomed to thinking about spoilers. “I definitely should not say that. I’m so used to pretty art-house movies, where you can watch the movie three times and still not know what it’s about.”Variety
And maybe he was hinting a crossover with Joaquin’s Joker. But, as much as everyone would love to see that, Joker is set in the ’80s whereas Robert Pattinson is playing a young Bruce Wayne, who’s around in his 30’s and is still struggling to find his real purpose. So, a crossover seems unlikely.
Although Variety purposely omitted what Robert accidentally said so we won’t know until we see the movie.
