Facebook has been experimenting with a new feature called “Facebook Dating” and they recently launched it in the U.S.

What is Facebook Dating?

As we all know that Facebook already has wide information about its users’ Interests, social circles, history of past relationships, etc. Now, Facebook has integrated a dating feature in the app, keeping in view that it will be more efficient for Facebook to create meaningful matches through the data of shared interests and activities.

The feature is only available for age 18+ users and you need to opt-in for using this feature.

How does Facebook Dating work?

Facebook conducted a thorough research survey for designing the feature. You can count on seeing some different options in the Facebook Dating feature.

First, you need to optin for using the feature and create a separate dating profile. You can choose to integrate your Instagram profile to your Facebook Dating profile too. There will be a new feature called “secret crush”. You can select 9 friends from your friend’s list and add them as your “secret crush”. You will get a ‘You’ve matched in Secret Crush’ notification if it’s a mutual crush.

What Features does Facebook Dating have?

Contrary to other dating apps, Facebook dating does not have a right/left swipe. You can simply send them a reply about something they have said in their Bio or Like their profile.

If you are not into the person, you can tap on “Not Interested” and if you change your mind you can go to the “Second look” feature to review the profile.

You can get matched with people approximately within 100 miles of distance. Your dating messages will stay in your dating profile only. The messages are fully textbased. The users won’t be able to send any files or links to potential dates. This feature is incorporated to prevent any romance frauds.
